Get to know me.

I am Bindo Thorpe, a software engineer fresh out of university. In my second year I decided to specialize in development, and trough discovery I found out that I love to design, develop and test web-applications.

I love for software started long before I enrolled in Applied Informatics at HoGENT. I started out create Minecraft server Plugins in Java, and quickly found out I loved creating new technology.

Once the time came to choose a degree to study, I had no difficulty choosing. For me it was clear that I wanted to go professional in development.

Only in my second year, I discovered my love for web-development.

My experiences

Besides software development I love traveling and getting to know other cultures. That is why I decided to do my internship abroad. What really captivated me is how I can help people who have less fortunate situations trough technology.

Añañau

I got into contact with a non profit organization in Peru, Añañau, who helps children with difficult home situations and lack of education. They provide after school support with homework, food, and general development.

Their story touched me, and it was my mission to further help them put their mark on the map. My internship lasted three months, and during these months I did not only help them expand their reach to recruit new interns, but I also developed new soft skills and experiences that will aide me in the rest of my professional career.

Nuclivision

Even though I learned a lot about my self and working in an international team, I still yearned for a technical challenge. That is why I decided to do an extra internship outside of my school context.

I got in contact with Nuclivison, a small startup in Wintercircus, and quickly started my second internship. My task was creating a web-portal that allowed docters to upload medical files and let them get processed trough their medical software.
